It's 20 years today since the fall of the Berlin Wall!

A few weeks ago to celebrate the occassion, our Typography 2 class had a lesson with a brief set by a visiting lecturer Verena Gerlach. She is a type designer from Berlin and friend of me teacher Erik Brandt. She gave us exclusive use of her font she designed and we created these posters for fontshop.com. It's one of them foldy ones like, what you read like a lil' zine like, that folds out to a poster like, black and white print with a two layer screen print over it like.

New tattoo, had this done at Uptown Tattoo here in Minneapolis they've got some real talented guys there, this was done by Zach Kinsey. My flat mate Brian is currently having a full sleeve done by Brandon there of a whale hunting scene, cant wait too see how its going to turn out.

Sunday in Chicago was short we woke up took photos from Marks sisters apartment roof, too remember the fabulous times!!!!!!!!!! We set off at around 1.30 then arrived back in Minneapolis at 10pm bit of an epic drive however we did stop quite a lot too see some real 'american' sights, we came across this bent house which was pretty dope it looked like it had literally been squashed word up house!

So first night in Chi City was Primo! We all went to a bar with Marks sister who kindly put us up for the weekend. Then we went to some weird apartment warming thing full of private schooled waste marines drinking grey goose and conversing about Merrel apparel, no appreciation for the ridiculous view they had from their balcony. After we went to a club called Social 25 it wasn't exactly some where we would have chosen our selves reminded me a little of an Oceana scene back home, more free grey goose was consumed not to the delight of the guys who owned the bottle, but o well. Weak Sauce.

We haven't uploaded on the blog for a while been neglecting it, with all the hard work we've been doing. So these are from a while back now, me, Dan Sinclair and Charliepoo decided to enter a competition put together by the website www.booooooom.com. It was to build a fort photograph it then send it in, easy right? Wrong we ended up putting off actually planning the whole thing due to drinking instead. The day of the build was a disaster due to hangovers and lack of food and basic building skills. Our effort is above not bad for a few hours ha. We never sent it in, woops.

heres a bit more work. one of my classes is; Graphic Design Form and Methods with Kindra Murphy. we were set a brief to design a set of three posters for a sound effects album and i chose a cd called suburbia.

i really wanted to make these designs into vinyl artwork, it was my intention at the time of designing the posters but was told i strictly had to make a poster series and so i created these just for myself. vinyl is such a nice format to work in. this project was a lot of fun.

We had our second MCAD football match today. last week we were losing 2-0 all game then Joe scored a sick goal with three minuites to go and set me up with a schweet header to tie the game with the last touch of the match. and then this week were losing 1-0 all game and Michael (babe) Aberman scores a header from a throw in! with 30 seconds to go to tie this game.
good.

then i went to see Brand New play a set downtown (but missed the support because of football which was Manchester Orchestra which would have been reet). concert was so sick though.

Nobody world premiere

we got tickets to the world premeiere of a film called Nobody: guy saves up to go to art school and falls in love or summut, cheese on toast american movie bollocks. so this film was filmed in MCAD which is cool, like right outside where we live and in our class rooms. some of our friends here were extras in it. they held the screening in this amazing theatre downtown and the cast and director all spoke at the start and Josh Hartnett (he lives in Minneapolis) was the executive producer. hes on the far left of the picture.

btw, it was debateably the worst film we may ever witness, it was apauling

the keyboardist from Echo and the Bunnymen died in a motorcycle accident a few weeks ago, the second member of the band to die from a motorcylce accident! and he went to king edwards school in Bath. and of course Patrick Swayze shot off t'uther day.

this opening scene is just epic, so i wanted to play it, i'm sure youve seen it before.

we went to see Jack Penate and Miike snow in a tiny back room to the club where Purple Rain was filmed! it had max 100 capacity. night was epic, the peanuts set was amazing and in such a tiny sold out venue. then we hung out with him and his band. hes a fookin' good lad, hes got good chat (despite how bored he looks in the photo). joe got a free t-shirt and i got a blowie off of him, score!

(me and some friensies went to see him at glasto this year and i mentioned he seemed a bit gone on stage, to the response; 'the 8 pills and massive line of ket i'd done throughout that day, on reflection probably were a mistake' ha!)

Joe and i take a copywriting class which looks at a lot of advertising and this newspaper cut out was an advert we were shown that i found funny. it was placed in the Telegraph by Ernest Shackleton (the first guy to reach the north pole i think) and over 400 hundred people responded saying they wanted to take part,ha.

we went to see a band called amazing baby, who were sick. (The only reference we have is that the lead singers brother is the front man from MGMT.) It was in this tiny venue and bumped into HAR-MAR SUPERSTAR in the crowd which was hilarious, (he signed both our penises of course.)

Obama came to Minneapolis and did a public speech on health reform and we went down to it. the atmosphere was unreal! there was maybe a 40,000 crowd and people slept out all night outside to get tickets (and a homless guy came along and stole all their shoes, true.)

Our first frat party! been waiting too long for this and it was a real funny night. we went to see me friend at the University of Minnesota and she took us to FRAT ROW on their campus. literally just a street of frat houses, one after the other. all that 'delta iota kappa - D.I.K house' nonscence. are pictures are rubbish but just a little taste, its just copious amounts of jocks pissed up wearing flat peaks backwards and flip-flops and dutty gal-dem. you can't really see it but the top photo is a pile of trashed cars on the front lawn of one party. There was some girl in a bikini pissed up on top of them hitting them with an axe to crowds of boysch cheering with their red cups. Party, english accents, jocks and lots of alcohol resulted in a funny night and very nearly a big fight with three chappies on the way home, MAZIN'!

We've not been very up to date over the past two weeks! Theres been alot going on, what with constant work loads and new adventures! So last weekend we went to see a film called Cold Souls starring Paul Giamatti. The films not the worst, however it kind of feels as though Giamatti is aiming for a Phillip Seymour Hoffman roll. He somewhat fails to fullfill this. Mark makes a cracking Chicken & Bacon salad i tell you that for free.
